The fitness instructor revealed on April 1 that doctors believed Cordero contracted COVID-19 after at first being misdiagnosed with pneumonia.   • First and foremost, Nick Cordero became ill on March 20. Kloots revealed on April 1 that he was misdiagnosed with pneumonia before learning that he had COVID-19. She also confirmed at the time that he was unconscious and hospitalized in the ICU as he battled the virus.
  • Cordero underwent surgery on April 18 to amputate his right leg due to blood flow issues. Nicks seemed to be responding well to his surgery and recovering well, according to his Wife, Kloots, via her Instagram Story on April 19. This even led to her request for prayers for well-wishers concerning the health issues her husband was suffering from.
  • Nick Cordero tested negative to Covid-19 on two separate tests been carried out on him. This made Kloots announce, on 24th of April, that the virus was out of his system and that it was remaining his recovery and getting his body back from repercussions of the virus.
  • On April 24, Cordero had surgery to get a Temporary Pacemaker. According to Kloots, “He had some irregular heart-beating that scared the Doctors enough to want to do a temporary pacemaker in Nick’s heart”. No doubt his heart was functioning well, but he had dips in his heart rate, and that one last time apparently was enough for them to carry out that operation.
  •  Initially, the doctors were not able to remove the ventilator overnight. The next morning, he got a fever that caused his blood pressure to drop slightly,” Kloots shared on April 27. A couple of tests was carried out in order to find out the source of his fever. The celebrity trainer added that he was put back on “a little bit of blood pressure medication” and doctors “set aside the ventilator removal until they get this under control.”
  • On April 30, Kloot shared on an Instagram page that “It started off with a low blood count.” She explained that her husband’s CT scans came back clear, which was a “huge blessing,” but they also learned that due to his COVID-19 complications, his “lungs are severely damaged and look almost like he’s been smoking over the years,” according to doctors. According to Kloots, “There are holes in his lungs where obviously you don’t want holes to be.” In order to get a better idea of what’s going on, the former dancer said that Cordero’s doctors were planning to “do a scan with ink to light up his lungs.” Despite the lung setback, Kloots revealed that she’s “not giving up hope.” She admitted that it’s “super scary news to hear” when they were hoping to get him off the ventilator, but that has now been pushed until Cordero’s lungs have been fixed.
  • Zach Braff revealed that Kloots and her 10-month-old son, Elvis, are staying in his guest house while Cordero recovers in the hospital. And thankfully, they were joined by her amazing brother and sister who are taking care of her and helping her with the baby.
  • On May 1st, Kloots announced on her Instagram Stories that Cordero was “free of the ventilator,” which had been replaced by a tracheostomy tube.
  • On May 4th, Kloot celebrated his little improvements, saying on her Instagram Stories, “He’s doing well”. He’s in recovery today and things are going well. Numbers on machines are coming down, which is great. And we just still need him to wake up. … His eyes are opening up, but unfortunately, they’re not connected to anything.”
  • Kloots told fans on May 5 after admitting her husband had a bit of a “rocky night” in the wake of his tracheostomy surgery, that “Fingers crossed for a good day and the possibility always of waking up”. His oxygen levels went down, but the doctors got him back. They did a lung scraping to get rid of some more infection. He later came back to be stable with some good-looking signs.
  • As of May 6, Cordero started showing early stages of tracking, “which means he’s starting to wake up,” Kloots said via her Instagram Story. She explained that although the Broadway star had already opened his eyes, “nothing’s been behind it,” so this is “huge.” “Now he’s slowly starting to show signs,” she continued. “Again, these are early, early signs, and super small movements that not only one nurse saw, but a couple.”
  • On May 11th, Kloots revealed that medical professionals were beginning to see improvements in Cordero. “We just got another update on Nick from the hospital and the doctor has confirmed that Nick is starting to follow commands,” she shared via her Instagram Stories, noting that this could be “a huge, big, huge deal” in regards to him waking from his coma. “He is very, very, weak still, so it is very slow progress when they ask him to do things. But they can see he is trying, which is awesome,” she continued. “Obviously it is registering, and he’s trying to do the things that they ask him to do. This is such a blessing, I can’t even tell you. It’s just so exciting.”
  • On May 12th, Kloots announced that while Cordero is still very “weak,” he has awakened from his coma. She said in an Instagram Live that “He’s in there and everything is looking good.”
  • Though her husband is now conscious and responsive, Kloots revealed on May 15 that he’s “still having a little bit of an issue with the infection in his lungs.” She added that “He’s getting better and better every day… A little stronger every day, so things are really looking great on that front. … We are on good, good progress with mental status.”
  • On May 20th, Kloots tearfully revealed that her husband’s health has taken a turn after initially recovering. Nick had a bad morning and unfortunately, things started going downhill. So she’s still asking for prayers for Nick Cordero. According to her, she said “Please cheer and please pray for Nick today and I know that this virus is not going to get him down,” Kloots continued. “It’s not how his story ends, so just keep us in your thoughts and prayers today, thank you.”
